The Reverend & the chickenhawks

An interesting article appeared in the Chicago Tribune today about Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

Rev. Wright is the nutty sounding preacher at Obama’s Chicago-area church that has been attacked for the anti-American sentiments expressed in his sermons.

He has been criticized and attacked as anti-American by everyone from superpatriots Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity to former President Bill Clinton. What the “patriots” who are angered by Rev. Wrights statements have in common is that they all avoided active military duty. In other words, they failed to prove their patriotism by seeking deferments instead of performing their military duties.

Other “patriots” that sought deferments and opted out of military service to their country include President George W. Bush, and Vice President Dick Cheney. Care to guess which Patriot chose not to opt out of military service to his country? Read on…
